This year Oakleys Plumbing Supplies will celebrate 145 years in business. Opening a new showroom in Cromwell, the company demonstrates a commitment to leading the way for customers.
When Henry Oakley and John Morgan Taylor founded Taylor and Oakley Plumbers Iron and Tinplate Workers, Gasfitters and Bellringers in 1875, Cromwell was a shiny new town, flourishing and growing fast after the discovery of gold in 1862. Nearly 145 years later, the company they founded is still going strong as Oakleys Plumbing Supplies. In response to another building boom in the area, Oakleys has just opened a beautiful new bathroom showroom in the Central Otago town.
After all these years, Oakleys is still 100 per cent privately owned and operated by a large team of passionate staff members who are committed to providing their valued customers with a broad range of high-quality products. The network of branches now encompasses Christchurch, Nelson and Dunedin plus the latest addition in Cromwell.
Christchurch showroom manager and national showroom coordinator, Lisa Lemon, partnered with the award-winning team from Detail by Davinia Sutton to design the display area within the existing building, concentrating on how to best utilise the space and creatively showcase the product range.
The layout includes six concept bathrooms designed to introduce clients to both classic and current looks in bathrooms. Working shower displays demonstrate overhead showers and body jets, giving customers an accurate idea of the experience they can expect from the products. An extensive range of kitchen tapware is also proudly on display.
Feedback from visitors to the new site has been overwhelmingly positive with many commenting that the space is calming and peaceful. This feedback will be music to the ears of Cromwell showroom manager, Lynda Abernethy, who has recently moved from Auckland to take on the role in this exciting growth area. Lynda brings a wealth of experience and product knowledge from many years in the industry. She is excited to be part of this new venture with a company that has such a proud history. Lisa is also delighted with the results and says, “The displays are beautiful and look high-end, but there are fittings and fixtures for all budgets on display.”
Oakleys continues to lead the way by putting customers at the heart of what they do and bringing the product range to Central Otago customers is just the next step in that journey. Oakleys welcomes visitors to come, relax and browse the displays for inspiration.
