Make room for the backyard chef!
The warmer weather is almost upon us. So now is the time to start planning some outdoor gatherings with family and friends. We caught up with Henry from Henry Blakely Landscapes to find out what you can do with your outdoor space to prepare for outdoor entertaining.
Just like indoor kitchens, outdoor ‘kitchens’ can be a hub for socialising and entertaining. Outdoor living spaces are very popular and a great selling feature if you are thinking about putting your place on the market. “Landscaping can turn a regular garden into a beautiful, functional, outdoor living space,” says Henry. “And when it comes to landscape design, you have plenty of options.”
Henry Blakely Landscapes have years of experience designing, constructing and maintaining beautiful gardens. The team focuses on being client-specific, house-specific, and environment-specific. Every garden is tailor-made, unique and breathtaking.
“Anything involving fire has been trending in landscape design for as long as we’ve known,” says Henry. “Any form of pizzeria fireplace or barbeque provides a comfortable space for relaxing outdoors. You can choose a classic fire pit, through to a gas-burning outdoor fireplace or a more substantial outdoor pavilion.”
Henry has experience in creating the backyard chef experience for clients. For example, the beautiful cookhouse in Darfield, Canterbury. Along with its stunning views of the Southern Alps, the property experiences high winds from all directions, so Henry and his team were able to design and install a pavilion, with room for 10-15 guests inside. The space has sliding doors to allow it to be shut off from the wind, no matter what direction it’s blowing. Beautiful planting and occasional pathways make a cosy spot for entertaining.
The construction team are used to working with the designers to ensure the original vision for a garden is brought to life. They take pride in producing results of the highest quality. They have recently completed a glass-roofed pavilion for a client in Christchurch, who was looking to combine two architecturally different elements of their home.
“We took elements of the architecture of both buildings and combined them to create a courtyard space that links the two buildings seamlessly,” says Henry. “It’s created an elegant space for outdoor entertaining, with some stunning glass louvred roofing.”
The outdoor space can also be enhanced with plants and vegetable gardens. What greater joy than being able to pick your own herbs from the garden to accompany your barbecue or salad? Henry Blakely Landscapes understands local climates and conditions, so can advise on keeping your garden looking fresh and fragrant. The garden maintenance team is knowledgeable, friendly and professional and will leave your garden looking serene and welcoming.
With plenty of options available, it’s worth talking to the experts at Henry Blakely Landscapes.
