One way or another
Our in-house colour visionary Alex Fulton brings out the best in the Forma Mean Chair from McKenzie & Willis with a backdrop of Dulux Southern Alps and flooring in Dulux Motutapu Island.
Monochromatic Mood
Creating a monochromatic backdrop is a really simple and classic way to bring a colour to life. Our hero product – The boucle armchair really sings in its black and white environment, and to make sure its deep olive-green colour is grounded I’ve paired it with a tonal mid green for the floor. This colour is complimented by the greenery of a beautiful mature potted plant. Keep it simple is the key to this look.
BOWLED OVER
This black and white graphic bowl from Marborough SOS Ceramics, makes a bold and simple statement.
MUG MAGIC
This beautiful sculptural mug is from Christchurch based ceramic artist Emma Turner, who enjoys telling stories through her creative and functional pieces.
BOUCLE BEAUTY
The inky deep green teamed with texture in this oversized armchair from McKenzie & Willis is a combo worth celebrating. Extra wide and roomy with two generous scatter cushions – it will take you straight to comfy-town.

In part two Alex Fulton brings the colour with Dulux Waimakariri river and Dulux Fortrose to contrast beautifully with the deep green of the luxurious boucle armchair.
Strong Shades
Pulling out colours from an artwork or a rug is a cohesive way to bring some different tones into a space. Mix and match colours from walls to trinkets to smaller furniture pieces – creating a connected and eyeball pleasing space. The colours don’t need to exactly match, but they need to tonally be friends. Trust your eyes and play around with different items you have to make the colour combinations sing.
MARBLE MARVEL
Designed by New Zealanders Nikolai Sorensen and David Moreland for Città Design, this bowl adds warmth and design to smaller spaces as well as being functional for stowing smaller trinkets.
EFFORTLESS ELEGANCE
Another stylish piece from David Moreland and Nikolai Sorensen at Città Design, the Horizon side table is stunning with it’s curved ribbon-like legs.
PLEASING PALETTE
This beautifully made rug was also the perfect muse for the accompanying colour palette. I also love that this has been ethically sourced by Christchurch locals so that we can all share in such beautiful craftsmanship.
