Safe havens
Take advantage of warmth, savings and comfort in the face of rising costs says Dean McGuigan of Golden Homes.
As we approach the winter months amidst a challenging economic cost-of-living climate, the decision of where to call home becomes increasingly significant. While the allure of an existing property holds its appeal, there’s a compelling case for choosing a new build, particularly concerning long-term cost-efficiency.
In the biting chill of winter, the warmth and dryness of a new home stand as pillars of comfort and financial relief. Unlike their older counterparts, new homes boast advanced insulation techniques and materials, ensuring a cosy interior even when it’s freezing outside.
With energy prices on the increase, the significance of the latest government insulation requirements for new home builds cannot be overlooked. It translates into reduced reliance on additional heating systems, ultimately leading to lower energy bills – an essential relief in the face of escalating living costs.
Our team are hearing from customers that the garage is becoming an extension of their home spaces rather than just a place to park the car.
Therefore we have recently lifted our standard specs here at Golden Homes Christchurch, so that the garage in every new build going forward will now include an insulated door, insulated walls and garage carpet (at no extra cost to the customer). This bolsters the energy efficiency and warmth between the main living spaces and the garage area.
Another new inclusion is the implementation of Wi-Fi-controlled heat pumps so our customers can access turning the heat pumps on and off remotely via an app, as required, rather than leaving them on 24/7 when they aren’t at home.
As we navigate a cost-of-living crisis and prepare for winter, the advantages of a new home – enhanced insulation, reduced costs and increased comfort – shine brightly. By prioritising energy efficiency and durability, homeowners can find solace and financial security in their investment, ensuring a warm and welcoming haven to call home.
