The complete package
Lucinda Diack talks to Designmade owner Andrew Hopping about what makes this interior design service stand out from the crowd
When it comes to selecting the fittings and furnishings for your home, achieving the perfect aesthetic balance between your floor tiles, curtains and furniture can be a juggling act – one that often requires multiple trips to multiple stores in order to uncover the ideal pieces.
Designmade is an essential resource for those seeking inspiration and solutions for their interior, providing an elegant space in which to browse the very best in traditional and contemporary furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, flooring, blinds and lighting.
Established as a space for fabric houses, flooring companies, furniture designers and the like to promote their products, Designmade has expanded from Auckland into both Wellington and Christchurch. For Cantabrians, it has become a destination when it comes to interior design decision making.
‘While we operate as a trade showroom for designers, architects and retailers’, explains Andrew Hopping, ‘we encourage the general public to come in and use the space as a resource.
‘We offer a complete cross-section of interior products’, he continues. ‘Designers can bring their clients in to see how various pieces and items will work together; equally, the general public can come in and use our Designer Directory to find someone to work with. The possibilities are endless.’
As well as enabling you to experience items and products prior to purchase, the showroom also boasts its own espresso bar, Coco Espresso – offering visitors a pleasing space in which to relax and contemplate.
‘While I tend to shy away from the phrase one-stop shop’, shares Andrew, with a smile, ‘that is exactly the concept – we really do have every facet of the interior market covered.’
