Revive & refresh

Integrating innovative design features with a wide spectrum of new colours, finishes and luxurious materials, Athena’s new bathroomware for 2017 elevates everyday living to the realms of luxurious indulgence.

Smooth operator
Although sliding door shower systems are not new to the New Zealand market, Athena has propelled them to new heights with the introduction of the Motio. The innovative bi-directional, soft-closing mechanism is concealed within a slim-line track on top of the door, offering ultimate ease of use and aesthetic beauty. Available in various sizes and configurations to suit small to large bathrooms, it comes in a choice of two- and three-sided wall options, with a 1920mm door height that can be matched with a low profile acrylic tray. Or, for a completely seamless look, the shower door can be installed directly onto tiles.

Colour chameleon
The latest European trends have been fused with the standard cabinet colours. These include moody hues like Fumed Oak and Routeburn Oak, alongside lighter tones, such as Baroque and Dusky Elm, which also boast a natural woodgrain look. In addition to the new standard colour choices, there is also a superior range of textured laminate cabinet finishes called Durachique. New black handles have also been added to the collection to complement the current range of brushed anodised handles.

You’re so vain
Vanity cabinet designs have become more refined – with the Alumino range, which includes slimmer side panels, and the ever-popular Sirocco range, which now comes with thinner benchtops. A wider colour palette is now available for those seeking to inject an element of the unexpected into their bathroom sanctuary, while the addition of the Caesarstone benchtop collection marries contemporary style with superior durability. The sleek 20mm thick benchtop comes in an array of colours, like Classico Sleek Concrete, and, for a more dramatic look, the Supernatural range's Frosty Carrina and Vanilla Noir.

That sinking feeling
Athena’s Create bathroom furniture collection has also seen some striking new developments including a beautiful new basin range. Made from Athenite, this premium solid surface material is non-porous and stain resistant. Cast from a combination of natural minerals and acrylic polymer, it forms a silky gloss finish for immaculate style and sophistication, and is available in various sizes and styles. The range includes the Circa basin – it’s name owing to its circular bowl shape – and the generous, curved rectangular Serifos basin, which offers both tap and no-tap hole options.

Splish splash
Freestanding baths still reign supreme. No need for awkward timber bath frames or costly tiling with Athena’s stylish Contro bath range. Offering the modern look of a freestanding bath, with the practical benefits of being positioned flush against the wall, the Contro bath comes in centre, and left- and right-hand corner options to suit any bathroom configuration.
