Stepping into the Frobisher showroom you can’t help but feel at home with the welcoming fresh barista coffee from the Espressory and a warm greeting from reception. As you make your way into the studio, contemporary music, high ceilings, filtered light and walls displayed in the latest wallpapers and paints exude a modern and home-like space designed to spark curiosity and inspiration. “We wanted to create not just a space but an experience where you can take your time, ask questions and explore endless possibilities,” says Ann-Marie Appleton, creative director and owner.
The showroom connects you with celebrated contemporary designers and brands from all over the world as well as some of the best from New Zealand. This seamless combination of local and international design is showcased in curated collections of bespoke furniture, homewares and accessories.
“We like to support local, which gives flexibility for clients to opt for something tailor-made, “Pieces that are carefully selected in minimum quantities allow Frobisher to give clients a bespoke piece designed to stand the test of time with the option to fully customise selected ranges. Every piece that I choose is carefully thought out. Design, origin, exclusivity and carbon footprint are key factors I take into consideration when selecting,” says Jessica Beavon, national sales and design manager.
The generously proportioned space is reminiscent of an art gallery, allowing you to take your time to explore time-honoured favourites – Thomas Bina, a pioneer in sustainable furniture design, and globally recognised designer Kelly Hoppen share the stage with customisable German brands Rolf Benz, Hulsta and Freistil, among other well renowned international designers exclusive to Frobisher.
The Frobisher showroom houses an extensive fabric library, where you can browse the latest arrivals and bestsellers in wallpaper, textiles and window treatments. There you will find a designer to share knowledge and guide you on how to realise your vision.
With the expertise of interior specialists and Frobisher’s in-house architectural consultant to draw on, no idea is off-limits. “For our many years of being there to apply the finishing touches, we’ve seen all kinds of design hits and misses and have funnelled that experience into our in-house architectural design service to create homes designed with the complete vision in mind from the outset,” says Ann-Marie.
The team at Frobisher believes good design is collaborative, resulting in a unique design, inspired together, showing you possibilities that you may not have considered while making it fun along the way. The design team can help as little or as much as you like with planning, design development, concepting, and selection of finishes and furniture.
“Through design, I have made lifelong friendships where I get phone calls to add more layers or refresh a client’s home – often, I still have the keys to their home from last time,” says Ann-Marie.
