Earthy tones

A stunning new range of bricks has arrived at The Brickery; fresh out of the kilns and direct from Italy.

The colours of the San Selmo bricks are, top to bottom, Lucca, Praga, Verona, Genoa and Pisa.

A home with a brick exterior always exudes genuine warmth and durability. As a versatile option for building in New Zealand, today’s bricks are available in a wide range of formats, colours and textures, making them perfect for any contemporary architectural project.

An exciting new range of high-quality coloured bricks has recently arrived at The Brickery. The range is made exclusively for The Brickery by San Selmo in Italy, which has been manufacturing bricks for more than 100 years in a seamless blend of tradition and innovation.

The San Selmo range is so evocative of that European heritage and history of craftsmanship. These kiln-fired clay bricks boast a tactile surface inspired by recycled bricks, lending a distinctive finish, and the long and slim proportions add elegance.

With a palette of five colours ranging from pale hues and deep earthy colours to steely blue-greys, they’re a vital ingredient to creating high-end modern, minimalist, traditional or rustic homes.

The Genoa colourway is a deep cream and yellowed tan brick. Pisa features a sophisticated subtle grey smoked tone. Praga is a blend of brown-red tones, rich and characterful and ideal for both urban and rural settings. Lucca is a rustic blended brick with a mid-tan base and surface colours that range from biscuit to deep earthy flecks. And Verona is a soft greyed off-white, with a timeless and romantic aesthetic.

When it comes to colour, the experts at The Brickery say mortar matters. The mortar colour and texture can change the feeling dramatically, so it plays a crucial role in the appearance of your brick facade. Paler mortar between darker bricks adds contrast, highlighting each brick’s shape, while matching the mortar to the brick softens the overall effect. As distributors with showrooms across the country, The Brickery can advise on everything from energy efficiency and sustainability to popular bond patterns, and offers an abundance of helpful technical and design information on its website.
